Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process by which the visibility of a website or a web page is improved in the search results of an internet search engine such as Google, Yahoo or Bing.
For example, analysing the words that are most commonly entered by users in a search and making sure that your site includes such words and phrases; making sure that your website has links from other websites, including social sites like Twitter and Facebook; and refining such information based on the analysis of traffic to your website is a part of the optimisation process.
The better your website has been optimised, the more frequently the site will appear in the search results pages, and the higher the ranking will be in the search results. Simply put, the better the search engine optimisation (SEO) the more visitors your website will receive from a user’s search.
Similar techniques are used for Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
